Why free school plays?
We know how hard it can be for School ARTS programs to raise money, so we're doing our part to help every single school in every single part of the whole wide world! For each of the plays here, whether written by me, by other professional playwrights, by teachers or students, there are no fees and no royalty payments.
How?
We're providing a centralized location on the internet for Drama and other teachers that are seeking and/or interested in providing plays, skits and/or monologues for students to perform at school.
What's the catch?
There is NO catch whatsoever. But to perform these plays, you must be a teacher or representative of a public or private school with students in grades K-12.
Artistically,
Chris Williams, Director

Updates:
Free School Plays now has its first play script up - A Very Merry Fairy Tale! Have a read and let me know what you think of the characters, etc. Who knows? I think you'll like Cinderella's Fairy Godmother, Gladys. She's pretty sarcastic, first thing in the morning! :)
Currently, I'm putting up the original fairy tales, written by Andrew Lang, in The Colorful Books of Fairy Tale Plays. This is the first BIG step of something HUGE that will be coming. More details will be announced soon!
* Whew! I'm about three-fourths through this step - it is taking a LONG time! :) Anyway, start reading the fairy tales. See if you can catch up to me! :)
* Another Update: I've just recently started on PHASE 2!!! This is where the excitement and some theatricality begins!!! (More information soon!)
Here are a few of the fairy tales to get you into the swing of things...
- From the White Fairy Book of Plays: Snow-White and Rose-Red.
- From the Cream Fairy Book of Plays: The Snow Man.
- From the Pink Fairy Book of Plays: Felicia and the Pot of Pinks.
- From the Magenta Fairy Book of Plays: The Clever Cat.
- From the Rose Fairy Book of Plays: Blockhead Hans.
- From the Ruby Fairy Book of Plays: In the Land of Souls.
- From the Crimson Fairy Book of Plays: Clever Maria.
- From the Red Fairy Book of Plays: Dapplegrim.
- From the Maroon Fairy Book of Plays: Bushy Bride.
- From the Auburn Fairy Book of Plays: Adventures of an Indian Brave.
- From the Brown Fairy Book of Plays: A Story about a Darning-needle.
- From the Copper Fairy Book of Plays: The Story of a Clever Tailor.
Each of the stories listed above, along with more than 400 other ones will be converted into on-stage adaptations and/or original plays/skits for the stage. The on-stage adaptations will be almost exactly the same words that are printed in the original story and will include at least one-narrator part, along with the parts for the characters that are in the original story. Original plays/skits may be based on the storyline (or not), but will have original text(s).
Please, feel free to share this site with your friends, co-workers, associates, etc. on facebook & twitter, too! And don't forget to bookmark us!
If you're looking for plays that you can pay royalties on, take a look at our Play Publishers section. It includes many popular companies that publish plays for professional & community theatres, as well as for schools. They all offer many great scripts, including comedies, tragedies, musicals and other related services. However, with budget cuts and/or being in low-income areas, some schools just don't have the money to pay for these things. FreeSchoolPlays.com is here for just those reasons (and a few more).
* Coming Soon: More Free School Plays, Free Acting Resources, Free Acting Tips, Free Directing Tips and MUCH, MUCH MORE!
